Water Softeners from Chris West Plumbing.
In conjunction with all the other services that I offer I also am one of the few plumbers in the Newbury and Thatcham area that supplies and fits a range of water softeners.
Many people ask me "Why should I have a water softener?"
and a few years ago I would have asked the same question.
The answer is simply the number of benefits. Ultimately the
benefits are all financial but some are the
inconvenience factor.
The wear and tear that hard water subjects your house to is so extreme that by fitting a water softener its possible
for a family of 4 to save over £600 per year in housing running costs.
That's a significant amount of money.
So how does a water softener do that? Well I am not going to explain in detail how a water softener works, but just to say it that it filters out all the calcium and magnesium in hard water.
Its these particles that form as scale in your kettle, washing machine, dishwasher, hot water cylinder, copper pipes, electric showers and as a white residue on your taps, bathroom fittings, and shower doors.
Research has proven that a water softener can break down existing scale and prevent re-occurence, this means you can experience all the benefits that softened water brings. These
include:
- preventing scale in the hot water system and improving
water flow through shower heads and taps
- prevents scale deposits in the toilet, on the taps, basin, bath and shower doors
- improved heating system efficiency; therefore reducing boiler fuel cost and heating system maintenance costs
- greatly reduces the amount of housework required to keep your home clean
- improves the texture of laundry by preventing detergent scum deposits within the fibres of clothes, bedding, etc.
- softwater lathers up far more than hard water, no need for expensive liquid soaps and detergents
- a softener will alleviate skin complaints - sufferers of eczema, psoriasis and dry skin please take note
- softened water improves your hair washing experience and for many people banishes bad hair days
- dramtically reduces the amount of money spent on household cleaning products
- extends the life of your capital equipment, heating systems, hot water cylinders, washing machines, dishwashers, kettles, etc
- an outside tap for washing the car makes it a quick,
easy and pleasurable experience, no chamois leathering off required
So how did I come to the figure of saving over £600 a year for a family,
see the table below:
