Drinking Water and Filters

Is hard water better to drink?

It is better to drink hard water. Calcium and Magnesium are essential minerals in your diet and drinking hard water will make a contribution to the amounts of these minerals needed to be healthy. A hard water tap will be left after installation so that you can continue to drink hard water. Drinking softened water is not harmful but babies and people on low sodium diets should not drink softened water regularly.

When we install a water softener we leave one tap to supply hard or filtered hard drinking water. There are some good options;

Use can your existing kitchen tap by plumbing up the untreated water into the cold side of your kitchen tap.

Use a drinking water faucet so that you can wash up in soft water from your kitchen tap

A three way tap is a neat way to have soft and drinking water all available from the same tap.

A drinking/soft water switch can be fitted. If you want to keep your own kitchen tap this switch makes it a three way tap by switching between filtered and soft water in the switch and then over to your tap.

I have fitted lots of these. I am showing some of my favourites here. They have all been fitted in client’s homes over the last 15 years and they have proved to be reliable and to stay looking good.
